Troop 206 is a vibrant, outdoors oriented, scout-led troop that helps scouts advance from being a Scout to Eagle. Serving Menlo Park, Atherton, Redwood City, Woodside and Portola Valley for 69 years, we meet at Trinity Church in Menlo Park and have graduated over 220 Eagle Scouts since our founding.

MEETING THE TROOP:

You may want to come visit one of our meetings so you can meet the scouts and adult leaders and get a better sense of who we are. We have meetings the first three Monday’s at 7:30PM at Trinity Church on Ravenswood in Menlo Park. Just show up or let us know you are coming at membership@bsa206.org.

SIGN-UP:

Once you decide that Troop 206 is where you want to be, complete the following steps:

  1. National Organization: The first step is to sign-up with the national Scouting America organization. Register your Scout and consider registering yourself as an Adult.
    • Boys sign up here
    • Girls sign up here
      Note: The Troops (206 and 4206) will be officially merging in a few months, but until then the Scouts and Parents need to sign up at the National level in their respective troops.

  2. Medical Forms:The second step is to turn in your Medical Forms. Each scout or adult needs to have Medical Forms A&B on file with the Troop, as well as a copy of each person's insurance card (front and back) in order to participate in short adventures.
    • Download forms here
    • Complete Forms (2x)
    • Make copies of both sides of your insurance card.
    • Bring two copies to a Troop Meeting or email them to membership@bsa206.org

  3. Dues: Dues for the year are $200 in addition to the National fees that are paid in Step 1 above. Please pay via Venmo to our Troop Treasurer, Craig Cohen (see QR code below, put the Scouts name in the memo and the last four digits of Craig's cell are 6633), or bring a check to the Troop Meeting made out to Scouting America - Troop 206 or contact membership@bsa206.org
    Note: If Troop dues are a barrier to your membership, please email us about scholarship opportunities.

FOLLOW-UP:

After you finish signing off there are a couple of other things that you will need to take care of including:

  1. TroopTrack: Once you are registered, you will receive an invite from TroopTrack our online Troop Management software. This is where much of our communication and planning takes place. Create a Password and log-in. Make sure your personal contact information is correct, and all the members of your household (scouts and adults) are set-up correctly too. In TroopTrack you can see all the upcoming meetings and events and RSVP, so we can hold your spot on outings.

  2. Uniform & Scout Handbook: We utilize two uniforms in Troop 206. One is a simple T-shirt that we refer to as Class-B Uniform. This will be provided to you by the troop at one of the first meetings. The other is our Class-A uniform that you will need to purchase online or from one of the local scout shops (Palo Alto and Foster City). You will need the following items:
         * Uniform Shirt (with Pacific Skyline Council patch)
         * Pants, Belt and Hat (Socks if you want)
         * Neckerchief (provided by Troop)
         * Neckerchief Slide
         * Green epaulets (go on the shoulders)
         * Patches
              i. Troop numerals (2, 0, 6 green letters)
              ii. World Crest Ring (optional)
              iii. Patrol Patch (provided by Troop)
              iv. Badge Magic (highly recommended… no sewing)

  3. Medical Form C (Summer Camp): For outings that last more than 72 hours (like going to summer camp for a week), you will need to fill out Medical Form C which you can find here, and which needs to be signed by your pediatrician. Please return it along with copies of the front and back of your insurance card to membership@bsa206.org
